Being invisible.......

This image striked me, even though it is a illustrated image, i liked it as it was what i was looking for, i wanted something which opposed the idea of being condifent with fashion and through the clothing that we wear. This image of a housewife shows the fashion being worn is irrelevant in society. Also the way that the women is looking out of the window gave me ideas about longing for a new life, whether this be through the clothing that will be worn or the attitudues percieved and shown through a change. My idea is to make a 'nobody' become a 'somebody'. This transformation would be through fashion and would document and show the changes throughout the transformation.

That feeling of clothing......

I decided to base a current project around how clothing makes you feel when you wear them. I want to look into attitudes, feelings and emotions of how people feel when wearing a certain peice of clothing, for example when i buyt a new dress which is flattering and looks good i am atomatically more confident within myself, where as when i put sweats on to walk down to the shop i almost feel invisable, which is what i want at the time, but i was interested to understand and visually research the power clothing has on personality.

Again with the story telling, Chanel seems to be the leader of fashion advertisment within a classy way and the cinematic quallity.....enjoy.

Fashion and Perfume advetisments

I fell in love with this advert the first time i seen it. The way the thinking overides the actions within the advertisment is what i have drawn from this advertisment, I love the way the advert draws its storyline from the major motion picture 'Moulin Rouge' which starred Nicole Kidman as a leading lady, The product in this commercial is not put across straight away. The advert tells a story first and allows the viewer to be absored into this story telling, then then product is pushed forward at the end. This is a very clever way of film making and is a personal favorite......hope you enjoy it as much as i do........

POWERFUL WOMEN........

I was inspired by powerful women throughout history when thinking about this project, This came about as i started to think of opposing factors of floral and it made me think about structure and dominant figures, This lead me on to think about powerful women and the image put across by them, here are a few images of women who i find powerful and inspirational...........

Christopher Kelly - Theatre De La Mode

Theatre de la Mode is a UK based fashion company which bases its designs around the idea of experimenting with shape, proportion and distortion of the figure.

WILLOWS

Leading designer of the company Christopher Kelly went to university in Derby, he then went to set up this company with his partner Sara Flamm, who has now left the company, they created the collection called 'Willows' This was based on a 'mutual fascination for all things minature'

To the right is an image from this collection, as can be seen the clothing was minature and showcased on small mouse like creatures. This was for A/W 2008.

UNDERTONE

After Sara left the company Chris went on to design and create 'Undertone' collection, which was a ready to wear collection which was inspired from the draped forms from 1920's and the Quay brothers. The collection was quoted to be neo classic designsof loosely structured silhouettes. This collection was shown at London Fashion week in september 2009. The interesting point that i like about this company and its philosophy was that the company is based around being a unisex company which caters equally for men and women trying not to exclude any sex in paying more attention to one over another.

TDLM were handpicked to showcase the collection at Vauxhall Fashion Scout.

ELIXIR OF HUNGARIAN HORSEMEN

But TDLM latest collection was inspired from bellowing, heavy drapes of Hungarian Horsemen, the collection carries on with TDLM's signature look of oversized. This collection was invited back to showcase this collection at Vauxhall Fashion Scout in Feburary this year. Above we can see just a few images and patterns which can be seen within this collection.

Trendbook Project

We were asked to create a trendbook, using visuals and insperation from things which interested us! Here i have added a couple of pages from mine, i was really pleased with the way it worked out and came together, Using computers is not one of my strong points but i think i did alright in this project but i look forward to developing my understanding of computers more!

Lily Allen for Chanel

This week when reading Grazia i saw that Lily Allen has been hand picked by Karl Lagerfeld to be the face of the his bag campaign. Lily Allen for Chanel?? at first the idea of it was quite bizarre but after looking at some of the images, i think it works really well!!

This is great for her as she also plans to bring out her own line of jewllery.

''Fashion Passes.... Style Remains'' -Coco Chanel

'Coco before Chanel' is currently out in cinemas and i am unable to get to a cinema which is screening this 'must see' film. I feel this is really going to change how people see and feel about fashion as the heart of fashion is opening up to the world. I will see this film...............i might just have to wait a while though.

My Wooden Corset

I found this image whilst looking through some past photographs of my work from previous years, I remember the processes i had to follow in order for it to turn out like it did. The corset is made from 3 panels of wood, which was the soaked and steamed and then sewn together using a thin ribbon material. I still find this really insperational when i look back on it.

WILLIAMSONS RETURN TO LONDON FASHION WEEK!

Im so happy that Matthew Williamson is returning to London for Fashion week! He is such an insperational designer and i love his work. I am really looking forward to see what he pulls out the bag for his come back...

In the beginning......

This is my first blog.. I will be recording my work and what i learn not only for people to look at but also for me to look back on everything i have done and achieved. This is my first blog so i dont have much to say. But the journey is just beginning.....enjoy.....
