It has been a while

This show would allow the customer to be able to have their own personalised text on the shoe, whether this be on the insole, main shoe, inside of the shoe. This shoe is customised by using paint and printing on fabric and attaching to the sole of the shoe.

This is just one of the clip on's for the shoe, This clip on is to represent Remembrance Day, so this shows how the clip on idea could be expanded to more than just weddings.

This is the clip on shoe without any clips on it. As can be seen the clip on material can hardly be seen.

A more wedding like clip on which could be used for the actual wedding day and then a different clip on could be used to change the look of the shoe after its initial use.
So its been ages since I last wrote on here or kept everyone up to date with the work I'm doing/done. I have just finished my 1st term of 3rd year at uni, and its so hard! I recently just finished a project where I looked into wedding shoes and experimented with making wedding shoes more personal and fashionable.

I made two different collections of shoes, one is the personalised shoes which allow people to personalise their shoes via text, whether this be personalised vows, a song or poem, the choice of placement and colour scheme is up to the consumer.

Collection two is a clip on shoe, which allow's the consumer to change clips on the shoe to change the look of a wedding shoe, this is so it can be re worn after its initial use.

My 22nd Birthday Present

I recently celebrated my 22nd Birthday! My friend Meili had planned a suprise for me, in which I literally had no idea what to expect. I travelled up to Canterbury to visit her at her University house, where she whisked me of to the West End in London, and we arrived...outside Her Royal Majesty Theatre to watch Phantom of the Opera. Which I can only describe as 'wow'. Im not the theatres biggest fan but this one is a must see and really blew me away, I even found myself shed a tear at one part, which came as a good laugh to my friend Meili who was with me.
Here are just some images which takes me back to that amazing, unforgettable perfomance and night.

Help for a friend

I was recently approached by a friend who asked for my help with organising and setting up a photo-shoot. We decided that our old college would be an ideal place to shoot, this was because my friend (Tom) approached me a day before he wanted to do the shoot, so finding somewhere which would be easy in terms of health and safety and the controlability.
We arrived and were planning on looking for a model on the day, when we went into our old classroom we found about 100 manakins all lined up. We both then looked at each other and realised this could work. These are just some of the results we got from a happy accident!!

It's been a while!

So it's coming to the end of summer and after a busy and action packed summer i'm now getting ready to get back to uni and to finish my third year!
So thought I'd just update what i been doing.
One of my main missions for this summer was to help my friend who was getting married, I was asked by her to create sash's which were to be worn by the bridesmaids. I was also asked to do the bridesmaids hair for the big day!
Here is an image of the bride and her bridesmaids! Looking fabulous!
(The sash's are the gold peices around the waist.)

TURTLES

Whilst in Zante we went on a turtle tour, to try and find them. I really enjoyed this as we were able to see the turtles in their natural habitat which beats seeing them through glass!

Zante 2010

So this summer I went on holiday to Zante! I think peoples perception of Zante is 'party island' and groups of lads with tshirts with their nicknames on them, but trust me it isn't. I went to a town called tsilvili, and it was out of this world. The one thing i love about being on holiday is that you can be someone else. My dress sense always seems to change when being on holiday i love the chilled out surfer look with the sea curled hair! I had the most amazing time and ate some of the nicest food and met the nicest people!! I cant wait to go back (when i can afford too)!
The cat that matched my dress!!!
Me on a boat tour around the island, we were allowed to jump of the boat into the sea, which is something which i will never forget!
The nicest cocktails ever!

OMG

I'm pretty sure that we all have a weak spot for The Twilight Saga, after going to see Eclipse the other day, first of all let me say how amazing it is, But to be honest it could be awful and I still probably wouldn't notice, but that's what you get when you put someone like Robert Pattinson in it.
I was a little shaken after finding this image, or shall I say images. This is Robert Pattinsons' first photo shoot, I dont know how to feel after seeing them, so to put everyone's life back into perspective I have put a more recent photo up too.

                                       OMG...

                      THAT'S BETTER...

House of Fraser Press Release

I was asked to create a press release for the House of Fraser in Bournemouth. The store was trying to re-launch itself in time with Bournemouth Fashion week. Here is a copy of the press release in which i created and that was sent out to press and other medias in Bournemouth and surronding areas. I tried to keep the design on the press release in sync with the look of House of Fraser.

Working at Glastonbury Festival 2010

This June saw the 40th anniversary of Glastonbury Festival, Held in Somerset where I live. I was asked by a friend whether I would like to work at the festival, of course I said yes. Where I was working was a camp site with a twist, 'Land and Sky' is a luxury campsite, with these beautiful yurts, decorated in the most exotic way. To stay on the site was very expensive and gourmet food, constant service and waitering was offered 24/7. I was a waitress there and worked many hours. Many of the guests I met during my time working there were some of the nicest people I have had the pleasure of meeting. Here are a few pictures of the Yurts and food which was avaliable at the Land and Sky camping site.

My friends wedding

After I made the sash's for my friends bridesmaid dresses, I asked her if there was anything else I could do, she asked me if I would make the wedding ring cushion with the materials I had left over from the sash's. Here is the final result.

My friends wedding

This summer my friend is getting married at the place where I work, It is a massive manor house in Somerset. I wanted to help her with anything she needed doing, The bridesmaid dresses were chocolate brown and had a brown sash on them, she wanted me to change the brown sash into a gold one, here is an image of what i have done

Matthew Williamson s/s 2010

Loving Matthew Williamson as always, especially with his s/s collection, love the mixing of colours and the unique styles and ways he has put them together.

Absolute geniuses

Viktor and Rolf never seem to do anything without the shock factor, their so unique in everything they do! Love this video, really works well, this idea of hands on and mechanical.

A few moments of your time please.

If you have a spare 2 mins, please would be so kind as to fill out this questionnaire for me, it is to help me with having a better understanding of the world of Marketing.
Thanks

My Make Up Skills

This was some research I did with the Photo shoot I did in my first year. I wanted to play around with trying to make the human face look like an African animal without making it look childish.

Guerilla Marketing

I love the idea of Guerilla marketing, it is basically a kind of legal way of graffiting. I think if it is done well, then it can be very sucsessful, but if not done well, it may look tacky and cheap. Here I have collected some images which have really inspired me, they represent everything great about Guerilla Marketing and how it should be done. These images inspired me when playing around using CAD to try and produce something along the same lines as these images seen.

Work i can finally upload!!!

My final Trendbook was a project i did at the beginning of the year, it includes many styles and themes throughout, This was the first time i had used Illustrator CS4 and enjoyed the outcome.

Elements

I love these looks against one another due to the contrast in the clothing, it’s something that wouldn’t normally be seen next to each other but i thought it was really interesting.
I found the images bizarre to look at, but think they work well together, even though they are in no way able to connect to one another.

OH dear....

Due to a unfortunate chance, i was unable to send out my press release and invitations, contact was persistantly made but i recieved or heard nothing back from the person i needed to to be able to send out the press release. This made me feel very annoyed and let down due to the amount of work i had put into the making of the press release, I knew nothing about a press release or anything to do with PR before and had to teach myself all about the industry i am so passionate about. But instead of getting annoyed and give up i decided that if this was the indusrty i wanted to enter into i would have to get use to it. So i took a deep breathe and just got on with it, i emailed Zoe and asked her if there was anything else i could do which would be simular to sending a press release out. So we decided on sending a covering email which would include the links to all the press releases from The Photographers Gallery and Selfridges. I was asked to send this to my contacts that i had previously collected when thinking about sending the press release out.

This had a positive outcome as i got some feedback from the bloggers which i was really pleased about, they basically explained how they would love to come to the event and are planning to come. Though this didnt allow me to explore design opportunities as what i was asked to send out was very limited in design etc.

I am pleased about the way i handeled the situation and feel that i dealt with it well and professional, this has also been said by my tutor which i was very happy about. I feel this error and mishap has been a major learning curve for me personally and professionally.

Experimenting around

I wanted then to try out different ways and techniques for sending out an invite, sending invitations reminded me of my childhood and how exciting it was and is to recieve an invite, This made me think about sending it in a paper form through the post, This would have been a mission to do as finding the addresses of the bloggers would have been almost impossible due to data protection. I could have however emailed them and asked for it, but i feel that would have ruined the element of suprise. Here are a few photos which i took of a invite that i created myself that would of been sent out of i were to have the addresses and the go ahead from The Girls.

Inviting techniques

I wanted to send the press release to bloggers via PDF and email. I also wanted to include some kind of invitation which would be personalised to the blogger and would be inviting them to the event. Below is a design which could be used for this use.

The Girls - The Paper Eaters - Long Live the Photo-Story!

As i have stated i have been researching PR and all aspects to do with it. I have mainly focused on looking into press releases as this was something that i discussed with one of the members of The Girls. We decided on sending a press release out to bloggers of the fashion world. I was really excited to see all the different blogs and to build up relationships with these bloggers. Below are a few of the press releases which i made up.

You go girls!!

Just a quick few!

seen as though i missed designing so much i felt like doing a few rough ones, it so nice to have control over clothing again!!yay!! i got my insperation from an essay i done recently which looked into culture, i want to explore culture through a non obvious and manipulate it in a subtle way!!

I miss designing!!

Being in uni we were given the option of what we wanted to specialise in, i have always wanted to specialise in the PR and communication side of fashion but i have come to realise how much i miss designing!! therefore i will be designing for my own satisfaction!!...coming soon.....
Hope you like what you see
